  • My name is Tara Crooks and I am a mama to two amazing little girls and married to my best friend. I'm also an Army wife of thirteen-years, an author, a speaker, a columnist, and a talk radio show host. When asked, my friends would tell you I am hard-working, funny, energetic, and determined. Those that know me professionally would tell you I have an ability to inspire and empower others. To me, I'm just me - I don't know how to be anyone else - and the older I get the more I learn to appreciate finding my place on this journey.

Valentine’s Day Care Package Ideas

I know I’m not the only one scrambling these last few weeks of January trying to find ideas for a Valentine’s Day care package that will knock my soldier’s socks off! I’ve hit the social media scene and military blogs all over. There were some great ideas, but in general most of us seem hard pressed to come up with more than a trip down the massive candy aisle at our local commissary. A New Year Under Construction

It’s the New Year and like many others I am faced with the traditional question “what is your New Year’s resolution?” Every year this question taunts me into the status quo. I think it’s because it’s so cliché. One time a year people are encouraged to set goals? Are you kidding me? What do you do the rest of the year? Ninety-two percent of those that set them never achieve them and a whopping forty-five percent fail before the end of January? That doesn’t sound like a successful New Year. It sounds like a tradition that has already Read more…

OKC Marathon

This weekend we attended our first official race – the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. 23,000 people – a marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, kids marathon and a 5k fun run. We ran the 5K portion of the event. We arrived on Saturday evening to our hotel about 1 mile from the Cox Center and checked in. Then we walked to the Cox Center to pick up our packets. (that was our warm up for the run the next day!) It was very well organized and easy to walk through. There were vendors and race officials all on hand. We got all registered and meandered through the booths a bit and then headed out to Zio’s to meet our friends for dinner. Yum- an excuse to load up on carbs!! (Our friends Abbey & Dave) Then it was time to head Read more…
